Welcome! My name is Kara Northern. This will be my seventh year at JRES and my fourth year in first grade! I have also taught in kindergarten for 3 years. I am so blessed to be at Jody Richards.
I am not originally from Kentucky, but have called Bowling Green home for the past nine years. I have lived in Oklahoma, Charleston, S.C., Raleigh, N.C. and Atlanta, G.A. My parents still live in Georgia, so I travel there to visit often. I graduated from Western Kentucky University in May of 2012 with my Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education. I earned my Master's of Education in Literacy from the University of the Cumberlands in December 2015. I graduated with my second master's degree (Rank I) in Mathematics in May of 2017. I was just accepted to WKU to work on my Gifted and Talented Endorsement. I am passionate about learning and hope to instill of love of learning in your child!
In June of 2015 I married my best friend, Sam Northern, who is a librarian in Simpson County. In my spare time I am usually with Sam cooking, reading, or watching movies! I can also be found working out at CrossFit Old School, drinking coffee at Starbucks, shopping at Target, or eating at Double Dogs or El Mazatlan!
